Least Horny Takodachi

Binomial name: Grimpoteuthis Microceros

G. Microceros, also known as the Least Horny Takodachi, is a small, pelagic octopus in the family Opisthoteuthidae. It is known from only 1 specimen found in the North Pacific in 2022. It was found at a depth of 600m, unusually shallow for members of the Grimpoteuthis genus.

Nothing clearly differentiates G. Microceros from the Grimpoteuthis Inanis except for the four horn-like protrusions on its mantle. Debate over the reclassification of both species is ongoing.
