August 11, 1973. Hip-Hop was born in the Bronx, New York, when DJ Kool Herc hosted a back to school jam complete with an MC to drop rhymes to keep the party flowing and breaks for dancing, which became known as breakdancing. 50 years later, Hip-Hop is still thriving.
