[1072] Type 2 Seaplane Fighter Kai (452 Air Group) / 二式水戦改 (四五二空)
Type 2 from 452AG, operating over Aleut islands from base on Kiska from June 1942 through August 1943.
Purple color is a very big what if. There are arguments for and against it; like American fighter pilots reporting violet planes over Kiska; and then no reports of captured violet planes after Operation Cottage.
Most probably planes were the usual Navy Gray; but then again, pictures of violet planes got so widespread that it would be a crime not to make one.
