Gunnar
First time in a while I put at least some effort into trying a background... anyway, last time I had my first OC's new backstory design. He was originally named Shadow Gunner because he was essentially a super hero who fought and looked like a Saiyan, then became something completely different over the years as I kept being influenced by more and more media. This is how he normally looks. Here's some flavor, a log file for the game I'm wanting to make:
Subject 9: Log Entry #97
It's been 17 years since Subject 9, "Gunnar," first emerged from the incubator. I was elated that my experiments had finally borne fruit, but I hadn't considered his upbringing. I would be the closest thing to a father figure he would have, yet I immediately set him onto a military training program as soon as his initial education was completed. Despite his matter-of-fact educational program and extensive combat training he still had a kind heart, fighting only with stun weaponry with the intent of protecting as many as possible. His actions during the Lunarie Uprising two years ago earned him a place among the royal guard as the personal protector of my only niece, Princess Galicia. He continued to impress even then, but there was always this... shadow on his soul. I eventually figured out it was due to my failures with his upbringing. I never allowed him to just be a child. I simply educated him to be a protector and had him trained to have the skills to be one. I wish I could take that back, but no science or magic that I have learned and developed over the years can do that.
The injuries he sustained covering Galicia's escape from Nitrode's coup last month presented an opportunity for him to bond with the relic weapon known as the Spirit Utility. As I put him in the healing chamber, I had him hold on to the weapon. It appears the process has had some unintended side effects...
As he emerged from the chamber, I could tell he looked smaller. Maybe even slightly younger. As he checked himself to make sure everything was working, both with his body and his equipment, I noticed a slight grin come across his face.
"I feel lighter... both physically and spiritually... what do you think happened, Deitos?"
"I'm not sure, Gunnar. The properties of the Spirit Utility are not fully understood... perhaps it responded to that shadow you felt you carried."
"I think you're right."
Our exchange was quickly interrupted by Tichonian forces breaking down the door. It seemed Adam and his allies couldn't stop them all. I prepared to fire some electricity into the attackers, but Gunnar stepped forward and brandished the Spirit Utility with the same grin.
"I want to handle this. I need to test my new abilities."
