Orca

The orca, also known as the killer whale, is the most significant type of dolphin and has a black-and-white pattern. They live in all kinds of oceans, from cold Arctic and Antarctic waters to tropical seas. Orcas are top predators, eating fish, sharks, and other marine mammals like seals. They live in close-knit family groups and have complex hunting skills and sounds that they pass down through generations, showing a form of animal culture. Their conservation status is unclear because there might be different species of orcas, and some groups are at risk due to factors like overfishing, pollution, and capture for entertainment purposes. In 2005, the southern resident orcas in North America were listed as endangered. Orcas generally do not pose a danger to humans in the wild, though there have been incidents with captive orcas at theme parks. They hold significant roles in the mythologies of various indigenous cultures, viewed differently across societies.
