Dragonía: Yrels
The Yrels are one of the main cultures of eastern Dragonía, found mainly to the northeast in the eastern city-states of the Ameders in Kanix Forest on one hand and the coastal kingdoms of the Mörkels on the Plain of Kings on the other.
Yrels are descendants of Mörkels who settled down in Ameder territory, and have developed a distinct culture and religion which have become widespread in the easternmost Ameder city-states, to the point of being adopted by some of the ruling dynasties there.
A common element in their syncretic culture is the worship of Naþa, god of the sun and seasons, sometimes along with other deities or as a form of monotheism, which a rarity in Dragonía. Depicted here is the Yrel midwinter festival, during which the people play music and cook meat in large cauldrons for banquets, hoping that the smell and sounds will awaken the god from his winter slumber and bring forth springtime.
