この作品は《霊狐絵抄》シリーズの第一作であり、狐妖をテーマにしています。本作は、妖怪の狡猾さと威厳を繊細に描写し、強烈な色彩のコントラストを用いることで、狐妖が持つ異界と人間界の二面性を見事に表現しています。

This piece is the first installment in the "Reiko Esho" series, focusing on the theme of the fox spirit (kitsune). Through detailed depictions and bold color contrasts, the artwork perfectly captures the cunning and majesty of the fox spirit, showcasing its dual identity straddling the realms of the supernatural and the human world.

Emerging from the right side of the frame, the fox spirit's snowy white fur resembles blazing white flames, exuding vitality and power. The vivid red markings around its eyes and its burning golden gaze create a striking interplay, radiating an enchanting and otherworldly aura. The fox spirit's sharp fangs are faintly visible, and its expression reveals a mix of slyness and menace, as if it is intently hunting its prey.

Beside the fox spirit, the kimono patterns merge golden whirlpools with natural motifs of branches and leaves, symbolizing the connection between the fox spirit and the forces of nature. This interplay adds a contrast of elegance and severity, enriching the visual depth of the piece. The background, dominated by a deep blue, features an aged building faintly visible on the left side, surrounded by scattered lanterns and human silhouettes, hinting at a story of entanglement between the fox spirit and humanity.
