Yasutsuna-san and Shuten Doji
Celebrating the Kurayoshi Pop Culture Fest with two character redesigns created specifically for the event:
1. Yasutsuna, the legendary swordsmith who forged the famous Dōjigiri Yasutsuna.
The design incorporates elements and colors of the Kurayoshi white wall district,
giving Yasutsuna a blend of a traditional swordsmith and warrior aesthetic.
2. Shuten Dōji, Japan's most fearsome demon. The color red, symbolizing the demon,
is also tied to the city’s architectural red-tiled roofs, creating a visual connection.
In the illustration, both characters stand side by side, embodying a Yin-Yang balance.
contrasting & complementary in their presence.
