Before daddy wakes up

이곳은 1871년 프로이센의 한 중산층 가정입니다. 프랑스와의 전쟁이 끝나고, 돌아온 아버지는 극심한 피곤으로 깊은 잠에 빠져 있습니다. 아홉 살 소년은 마치 아기 고양이처럼 살금살금 침실로 들어가 아버지의 반짝이는 피켈하우베를 머리에 써 봅니다. 아버지는 이런 행동을 절대 허락하지 않았습니다. 만약 아버지께 들키기라도 한다면, 맨엉덩이에 매를 맞는 벌을 받게 될 것이 분명합니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 소년의 얼굴에는 기대감과 호기심이 가득합니다.

1871年のプロイセン、中流階級の家庭です。フランスとの戦争は終わり、帰還した将校の父親は疲労の末に深い眠りに落ちています。9歳の少年は子猫のようにそっと寝室に入り、父の輝くピッケルハウベをこっそり被ろうとします。父はこのような行動を決して許しませんでした――もし見つかれば、お尻をむき出しにされて叩かれる罰が待っていることでしょう。それにもかかわらず、少年の顔には期待と好奇心があふれています。

This is a middle-class home in Prussia, in the year 1871. The war with France has ended, and the father, a returning officer, has fallen into a deep sleep from exhaustion. Like a kitten, the 9 years old boy tiptoes into the bedroom and try on his father’s gleaming Pickelhaube. His father never allowed such behavior — if he were to be caught, a punishment that spank on his bare butt would surely follow. Nevertheless the boy’s face is filled with anticipation and curiosity.
