Darwin (Project Pax)

This is Darwin, a talking orangutan with a Brooklyn accent and a love of key lime pie. He is the leader of an organization known as the Type Extermination Unit, a small squad of motley mercenaries dedicated to protecting the capital city of Ardich from attacks by biomechanical monsters known as Types.

The TEU’s headquarters lie directly in the middle of town, comprised of a series of repurposed storage units and a large central garage. In order to keep the mercenary business afloat, Darwin acts as an auto mechanic in his spare time, fixing vehicles of all sorts in exchange for payment. As a result of his many years spent working on cars, he has become a skilled mechanic - even branching out into wider engineering projects such as his custom mech, the “Hamadryas Unit Mk. II”.

Darwin bucks several stereotypical trends associated with primates; he can’t stand bananas, prefers peace and quiet to raucous mayhem, and is hygienic to a fault. He and his coworkers are the first to offer Pax shelter during his journey into the world of Ithracyll, and are widely respected by Ardich’s citizens as local heroes. Depending on the path Pax takes, he may eventually face the sapient simian as a beloved friend or a furious foe…
