The red night awakens within a distorted realization

The floating light passes by a soul drowning in the transience

I first atempted to translate the lyrics of this song around 15 years ago, at the time it just looked like a disjointed collection of edgy Chuunibyou concepts, just like the anime that uses this song for its opening. However, and while I am still far from being highly proficient at japanese, over a decade of getting aquinted with the language and its uses of poetry in song writing has led me to find a new apreciation for its message.
As I interpret them, these lyrics narrates how a cognition influenced by a negative outlook gives birth to a flawed rationale and the desire for opting out of living, even while realizing that it is ilogical to seek permanent solutions for temporary problems. It pledges for the lost souls to keep believing in a future filled with kindness even as the world turns into ashes.
When feeling so sad that you could sink into your own tears, look above and find a hope that will let you cut through the barriers made by your own mind, and then head to a new world filled with hope.

Here is a more light hearted story. I was very young when I watched the 11eyes anime so it made no sense to me, it might just have been a bad adaptation or not, but ultimately I wasn't left with a very high opinion of it. years later I tried to read the original Visual Novel after it got a fan translation patch, but it was too dense on the slice of life moments which had not aged well at all, so I found the opening act inmensely boring, even so I made myself stick to it for at least a couple routes. Needless to say, my most fond memories with this story are of the scenes focused on the Lady featured here, Kusakabe Misuzu, I have always had a soft spot for the "overly serious samurai sword lady" archetype, a comon trope seen in other places such as for instance Saeko from Highschool of the dead or Takao from Azur Lane, but Misuzu in particular has stuck with me over the years due to her own unique blend of diligence and kindness, she really is a source of light for a sinking soul
