James is a rather queer lad in the eyes of most, due to his unorthodox mannerisms regarding both humour and common situations. He's known for being brutally honest and bold in the face of danger [perhaps too much so, at times], but is also a terribly corrupt individual also known for lacking remorse for his actions. He's also been noted [by Giles Mason in particular] to be surprisingly tactical and intelligent despite his standing in society [being brought up in the low-class] and lack of formal education.
He has also been noted by several witnesses to be a shameless individual who hardly seems to appear embarrassed or even acknowledge certain bouts of ridicule aimed at him.

Even he has a temper however, and though it doesn't show often, James is still known for becoming confrontational and aggressive when angered, but is fortunately fast to calm down. Giles has mentioned that [in his own opinion] James' most detrimental traits include his impulsive and argumentative tendencies. Fortunately, he's loyal and hard to dissuade from his own beliefs, despite this being seen as a negative trait by some. He commonly 'butts heads' with Ashley Davenport II in conversation [due to their matching astrological signs, no doubt] and both are shown to have dominant personalities. They commonly cut one-another off in conversation in an attempt to project their thoughts first and be heard.
