Diet:

Apceros is a large ruminant herbivore, relying on cellulose for most of their calories. They tend to show a liking for dry grasses and shrubs, which shows in their adaptions suited for hot climates. The guild speculates that the reason for apceros as a species just might be due to an aptonoth-like ancestor venturing into the sands in search of food, and favoring the found sustenance over lusher plants. In contrast to aptonoth, they do not like root vegetables or fruits.

Habitat:

Unlike the closely related aptonoth, apceros are adapted to deal with much harsher weather conditions. Some of these arid biomes include both hot and semi-arid deserts, as well as plains around volcanoes, in which their preferred food is plentiful. Their tough, leathery skin, as well as tough shells, are built to withstand volcanic temperatures and sandstorms without taking damage. They also sport a clubbed tail, which can be used to combat predators.

Behavior:

Like most other large herbivores, they roam in large groups, and seem to share social hierarchy as well as close relationships with their herd. Protective parents, they guard their eggs and young much more aggressively than most herbivorous monsters, that act in a much more submissive manner. When not faced with a challenger, they show a passive, yet spunky personality.
