Arctic flim

This is my first entry in the inktober 2019 challenge. I have created a random fantasy animal generator that tells me the habitat, climate, type of animal and diet and from this I will create a fantasy animal of some kind.

This is the Arctic flim. A relative to the common flim (https://www.deviantart.com/dragonniar/art/Flimidae-Common-Flim-591444856). The Arctic flim is a cold-water dweller, living along the northern cost.

The Arctic flim forms a strong bond that last the life out. They very rarely leave the other one’s side. They forage under the ice cap, hunting for fish, octopi and different clams. They also eat a big portion of kelp.

Since they are birds, they lay eggs and to keep it from freezing the Arctic flim have evolved a quite unique method. In the cold climate they keep their single egg warm by ingesting it and brood it within their crop. The male and female share the responsibility of the egg by regurgitating it and pass it along to the partner. By carrying the egg within their crop, they are still very moveable compared to our penguins.

The crop also has another usage, they can blow it up, exposing a red leathery skin patch that is used to communicate with other Arctic flims.
