A witch's lair
Watched a video "Where does Magic come from?" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPNpE0X3Bkw] to get some ideas for magic user design. From the video, "real" magic is based on luck, deception and shifting perception. They also used different items for different purposes such as reflective or refractive item for scrying, books for bibliomancy, and lots for cleromancy. Depending on the design scope, the level exaggeration of reality varies.
In my interpretation, they may have used plants for potions and ointments or even the smoke from the plant to affect people. The effects can range from hallucinations to fatality. A staff with a crystal attached to it can be used as a symbol of authority or power while also can be use for scrying.
