Sao La - Midnight sky
Song that I heard while drawing this picture:

I drew this character based on the saola concept.
I wonder if "Sao la" was a god what would it look like in traditional Vietnamese costume?
** So what is SAO LA?
The Saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis) or "Asian unicorn" is one of the rarest large animals on earth. This beautiful animal is found only in Laos and Vietnam, in the Annamite Mountains along the shared border of the two countries.
In the Lao language, saola means ‘spinning wheel posts’.
Saola is listed as [Critically Endangered] (the last stop before extinction) on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

With "áo dài" on the body and "khăn xếp" on the head.
** Jewelery: Dong Son culture
Because saola has a white ring on all fours, I borrowed some ideas about Dong Son culture jewelry to include.
Dong Son culture is an ancient culture that existed in some Northern provinces of Vietnam and North Central Vietnam. The Dong Son culture or the Lạc Việt culture (named for Đông Sơn, a village in Vietnam) was a Bronze Age culture in ancient Vietnam centred at the Red River Valley of northern Vietnam from 1000 BC until the first century AD.
