Fantasy Prison 4
Halfling prisoners in the prison kitchen. These jovial lasses are very good at buttering up the larger races, protecting their own interests into the bargain!
Most halfling convicts are in for theft, bootlegging, and occasionally embezzlement from their employers. A halfling who is both hungry and broke is a serious danger to local shops, as they can easily just take what they want and vanish.
Because halflings are notoriously sneaky, they wear bells fastened to their ankle shackles. You can't be too careful!
The warded door in the background leads to the pantry. At first it was just locked, then it was locked and barred, then they put an expensive vault lock on it from a locksmith who normally sells to banks. It ultimately had to be magically warded, or else the halflings would have bankrupted the prison food budget (or, more likely, be spending more time in the disciplinary block than not). The warden justified it as an investment!
Tauress ladies are massively strong, so two types of precautions are taken. First, their nose rings are enchanted with a strength sink: they must exert a significant amount of pressure before their limbs will move, effectively reducing their crushing power. Second, they are fitted with the heaviest set of restraints in the prison: they are the only race with both hands permanently bound, locked to ankles fastened with anchor chains that have to be imported from the local shipwright. Together, this prevents them from simply tearing their cell doors off the hinges and walking out.
It also prevents them from easily caring for their often long hair, and this is where our stack of halflings comes in!
