Trouble again
Recently I've been working to speed up my drawing process. Mainly this has involved practicing sketching parts of the anatomy I struggle to draw, along with overall figure poses. Previously I've found that getting the line art right takes a long time because I only notice mistakes when I start colouring. The other thing that has helped is getting more familiar with the software and having a common process for colouring and processing.
I was amazed by how quickly the artist in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RddVTbiTzYo) was able to draw and colour (10 minutes per drawing!). I tried it my self, but the results were pretty awful.
Instead for this piece I loosely timed each stage: Sketch 1 hour; inking 2 hours; colouring 4 hours; background 1.5 hours; and processing took 2 hours. 10 and a half hours total. I don't know if this is quick or slow, but previous drawings have sometimes take a month, so I think the practice is starting to pay off. I'll time myself for future artwork and see!
Recently I started reading through the manga for To Love Ru, hence why I chose draw Kotegawa Yui again, using one of the panels as a reference.
