Erika in her summer uniform
Similar to the HJ, the girls in the BDM (League of German Girls) had to wear a service uniform at all meetings and functions they participated in, including parades, events, trips, and outings. The service uniform was also commonly worn in school, teachers often support those who actively participated in BDM with better grades.
Erika's uniform consisted of a dark blue skirt, a white blouse, and a black neckerchief, she also have her membership insignia, her medical trade badges, and a leadership lanyard. Her Gaudreieck (regional triangle) worn on her left sleeve declared her region and district of "East Berlin" (Ost Berlin) in the old “gothic” style German script.
As the rank of Maedelgruppenfuehrerin, Erika had received medical training and she could perform first-aid to wounded, her skills grant her the opportunity to work as a medical volunteer in a Greifkommando unit during her time in the Battle of Berlin.
