Martin sleeps and dreams of opening a book for some light reading. He realizes too late that the book is the Mysterium Xarxes, which is too dangerous to handle without the proper warding spells, for which he has forgotten to prepare. At that moment Martin knew he was trapped by the book's power and inflamed by his former lust for daedric magic. The secret gates opened, and he was about to be drawn inexorably, helplessly, towards Oblivion...

And he awakens in a panic a moment later, safe as can be in his bed in the Emperor's chambers at Cloud Ruler Temple. Baurus the Blade, who acts as a guardian, peeks into Martin's room and asks if all is well. Martin sighs with relief.

"I can't escape the Xarxes, even in my dreams..."
