Babayka (OC design + costumes)
Default costume (Specter) design and lore notes:
(Warning: I consider myself an amateur in character design. If you ever read this thinking you'd learn from it. You most likely won't. Most aspects of the character is blended with what I love which so happen to perfectly fit into the character. Either that or I'm good at pulling stuff out of my butt and make things work.)
- In summary, Babayka, is a shapeshifting Griffin (white Tiger and melanistic Barn Owl traits). Kintsugi (金継ぎ) is also used as a way to show how much of a mentally (and physically in the present) broken person he was. It is a major exaggeration of myself in my younger and "reckless" days as a teenager. I also personally find that mixing tiger stripes with the kintsugi pattern goes very well. Like the Schrödinger's cat, he is simultaneously dead and alive.
- Color scheme: "blue, black and gold" is my favorite combination. It's also used as a prop to convey the character's personality and lore. Let's start with my favorite color. Black. The character himself is fundamentally quite depressed and a mysterious character. However, it is also used in more positive ways. For example, sophistication, elegance and used for camouflage. Blue is mainly used as a calm, intelligent and wise color. Gold is... well... gold. He loves money (like me).
- Flower symbolism: The red spider lily (Lycoris Radiata) on the blazer's lapel, while colored blue with gold outlines, symbolizes the passing of both his universe and himself. It is also is my favorite flower. A blue roses naturally grown from his universe represents the impossibility of his existence in the current universe.
- Shapes: The shape of his design (without the cape) is mostly triangular and sharp. Like any sharp and pointy things, you can say it can be intimidating or aggressive. He is meant to look like a villain. Coupled with the blue used, you could say he is a calm one. I also like edgy designs. The cape is to conceal himself and disperse his silhouette and allow him to blend better in the night. His hair and the fur coat blends as well as Jotaro's hair and his cap.
If you have read through that, thank you for your time.
Ps. I just realized he kinda looks like Zhongli from Genshin.
