12. Sera's Sacrifice- The Warden
Sera's POV:
Since her transfer from her sentencing hearing, Sera had not needed to wear any of the Arcanium restraints since the LSPA was mostly for non-aggressive criminals. She knew that Arcanium in direct contact with the skin could lead to several uncomfortable symptoms if left for too long so when Illyana took her time to get the warden ready for her she was starting to feel some of the effects of increased Arcanium exposure.
Sera felt warm as her temperature increased, her heart was beating hard in her chest and breathing was starting to become more of an effort. It was still at a manageable level, but if they were not removed soon she would probably start to feel really sick soon.
"She is ready for you," Illyana said with her usual evil smirk as if she was hiding a secret that did not want to reveal because she would spoil the fun.
Since her incarceration, the only moment that she saw the warden was when she got caught on her previous attempt and was given her first shot and punished for 3 days in isolation. In all honesty, the woman disturbed her, and she did not want to meet her again. She was warned last time that if she was caught breaking any of the rules once more she would greatly regret it and it seems that today she would make her previous promise come into reality.
Sera walked slowly so as to not stumble due to the leg shackles since now that her hands were behind her back her balance was compromised and she ran a real risk of falling flat on her face. Then she sat on the chair that was prepared for her in front of the desk where the warden was waiting while not looking at her and feeling some paperwork. Time felt like it was moving at the pace of a turtle racing on the ground in addition she was starting to feel more uncomfortable as the minutes went by.
The austere office had barely changed since the last time that she had been there almost a year ago. It looked like the normal everyday office that you would find in any corporate building with cheap carpet and old furniture. The warden was a gray-haired old woman who without her clothes would look like anyone's grandmother, but if the information that her organization had provided was truthful then this old woman had ruined the lives of dozens of women by sending them to higher level security prisons with barely any due process.
Then after a couple of minutes, she stopped writing and Warden Rez looked Sera directly in the eyes with a certain amount of intensity.
