Gleipnir (Novel AI)
There's one final character related to the Arch Dragons left to mention. Gleipnir. She's based of Nian from AK and named after the Gleipnir from Ace Combat Skies of Deception. I never played it, I just needed one more Air Cruiser to keep the theme going and that's what I found. There isn't much to say about her past her backstory because in short, she's already dead.
Gleipnir was Hresvelgr's sister and a fellow Arch Dragon who joined in the final battle for Wellow. The Arch Dragons were able to defeat Ulysses, the first Major Demon, but were not able to kill him. The price paid to get to that point was insurmountable, and Wellow couldn't be held. 2 Arch Dragons and over two hundred thousand troops from every corner of the world died to bring Ulysses *near* death. It was decided that Hres and Gleipnir would split up. Hres gathered the handful of survivors still fighting desperately to hold their escape route open and fled Wellow to the west. Gleipnir took the remnants of Ulysses and pushed south. She made it to the Crescents Islands off Belka's northern coast before succumbing to exhaustion and crashing down.
An at the time young Belkan officer, named Antov Kupchenko (Wink wink), witnessed her fall. He gathered some troops and reached the site, finding the remains of Ulysses and the battered "human" form of Gleipnir on the beach. Wounded and semi conscious, Gleipnir was still able to explain the situation. Knowing what Gleipnir was and the danger Ulysses posed to everyone, Anton aided the Dragon as best he could, and they made their way back to mainland Belka with Ulysses confined in a large metal coffin sealed with the strongest purification magic they could find.
Reaching the Wall and being met by hordes of secret police and military forces, the group was detained. Anton's soldiers were all silenced, but Anton and Glepinir were spared. Most likely due to his connections and the illustrious career the top brass knew he would have ahead of him, and her being a powerful Arch Dragon. Anton was quickly pushed up the ranks and became the overseer of Ulysses' containment, "Die Tiefe Gafangenschaft": The Deep Captivity. Gleipnir became the first line of defense for this system. While she might not be able to fully kill him, in his slowly weakening state, she would be able to keep him from escaping and returning until he reached a point death could be assured.
As things go, Gleipnir and Anton fell in love. They ended up having a child. Erolith. One of my players. But over time, the systematic hatred of anything that wasn't a human, elf, or mix of the two, took over Belka. 150 years after The Deep Confinement was created, Belka was fully radicalized. The High Command decided they no longer needed Gleipnir, and the Internal Security Bureau killed her inside the confinement area with poison gas. It was the only way they actually could do it. Her death, set in motion Erolith's reason for being. Revenge. Isn't that fun?
Short and sad, but enjoy Gleipnir.
