Jad (جاد) is a queer agender Lebanese interdisciplinary artist from Al-Zrarieh (الزرارية), who uses video and music, often combined as shorts or music videos, to create fantasy bubbles fuelled by the unpredictable, the rejection of social constructs, unwanted routine, preconceived ideas and the inherent need for unrestrained pleasures and reliefs. They focus on concept, feeling inducement, and the creation of endearing characters and places.
Jad is a member of the experimental music duo “spécimen bimbi” as well as the artist behind solo pop project “Funny Death”. They have co-created numerous videos and installations with interdisciplinary artist Romy for festivals like Chambre d’échos, as well as multiple performance pieces with critically acclaimed artists such as Gui B.B, Mycelium, Dona-Bella Kassab, and Claire Pearl for popular festivals like FTA, VIVA! Art Action, Mardi Spaghetti, Festival Entractes, and OFFTA.
In 2012, they were a resident artist at the first Red Bull Music Academy in Beirut, Lebanon. As an independent artist, their music has steadily garnered significant attention, eventually reaching the top 3 in Vietnam in 2022 on Spotify, Apple Music and QQ Music, breaking into the top 10 across Southeast Asia.
