"This is what people call masculinity! I've been longing for someone like you. Can you teach me how to be unladylike?" - Bridget
I in no way wish harm upon anyone. If you're trans, you're valid, beautiful and/or handsome. I simply maintain that Bridget is and will always be a man, regardless of what the developers retcon. Going against all of his motivations, giving in to the people that brought him down, potentially would have killed him due to their beliefs if he was ever revealed to be a man and so forced him to grow up as a gender he wasn't only to later give in to the gender forced upon him at birth feels like the opposite of what trans want unless trans people truly want to live as their birth gender which isn't true and the worst way they could have done this (if anything it makes more sense for him to be a transman if that also didn't bring it's own conflicts with his lore.) I'd be happy for a trans person to be introduced into Guilty Gear either existing or new but choosing Bridget is in direct conflict with his wishes and goals. Non-binary is another choice for Bridget and would have made me happy too.
The ultimate lesson for Strives Bridget feels like
"If you were forced to be raised as one gender that didn't match your own then all you need to do is learn to accept what you were raised as." or even "You need to stop running away and accept how you were raised." Which is one of the most un-trans friendly things I can think of.
What was once a story about fighting for yourself and who you are is now a story about accepting what your parents told you to be even if you wanted something else and that what you wanted to be was just a phase or regressing because you got told to.
It doesn't help that choosing Bridget has only made people continue to fetishize, discriminate and think of trans people as groomers.
There's a lot more points I have written on Strives handling of him and from all angles it ends up feeling wrong in it's message, lore, character etc but I'll try to keep this profile short"er" and leave things here.
In the end, if you agree or disagree with me you are all beautiful, valid and wonderful. If any of my works has caused discomfort, I sincerely apologise.
I welcome discussions but I won't tolerate fights. I have art I want to make and put out there and I'll continue to make this a place for the character I love. If you aren't interested, then that's okay but let others enjoy the art and move on.
I feel like adding this to make things clear.
the images that depict violence against Bridget are motivated by my disapproval of what Strive did to their character including that their motivations would want to be anything other than a man but solely because I think it is the wrong choice for this character NOT because trans is bad in any way on its own.
Stay true to yourselves everyone.
