Erza 1943
On 20 February 1943, Schwere-Panzerabteilung 503 experienced internal & coordination problems, causing OKH to immediately look for a replacement Battalion commander who could solve the problems left by the previous commander.
Erza, who was in a reserve unit position, was then chosen as the successor to Emiele Katharina Schmitt, she was previously in the Panzergruppe 4 (4th Panzer Army) unit and was demoted to specifically lead Battalion 503. Emiele then moved to Panzergruppe 2 as a reserve unit.
